Ash And Steel Staircase Featuring Sculptural Design

ash wood staircase with black steel balustrades

This fabulous ash and steel staircase is part of a new build modernist certified passivhaus.  It is a visually stunning piece of sculptural design. Produced by Flight Design a company specialising in the installation of bespoke architectural features such as staircases, balustrade and mezzanine floors.  Be it straight, helical, cantilevered, spiral or multi-flighted, each installation is bespoke.   Every design is crafted in their London based workshop.

Alongside architect Tom Gresford of Gresford Architects,  Flight Design produced a feature ash and steel staircase rising from ground to the first floor.  A grey steel structure and balustrade supports the solid ash treads which slot over steel supports.

Essential and beautiful, the addition of a bespoke solid ash balustrade contrasts with the steel railings.  The minimalist design sits perfectly in the space allowing light to flood into the ground floor from above.

Working with mild steel and timber, Flight Design looked to stretch the boundaries of both material and design.  By producing ‘sculpture like’ structures such as this, ensured this home gained a stunning staircase with beautiful proportions.  We congratulate Flight Design and Gresford Architects on this brilliant, contemporary design which totally enhances and complements the space.
